“And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.”
(John 3: 19 ESV)
There is darkness in this world and the growing darkness is all penetrating…consuming…deepening…. and slowly engulfing us all…peering through every media outlet…lurking on the corners of every street….inviting itself into any venue…..and the innocent bloodshed…the crying and screaming of victims brutally being quickly silenced and trapped within its wicked death grip…and this evil is escalating as we are turning away from the light….it is pure hatred in the very face of simple innocence…and it is bred from blatant pride…it demands its own way without regard for anyone or anything….it is slowly destroying us from inside out…and it is blinding so many multitudes with its alluring ugliness…We would rather choose the darkness over the light….
“I’ve been an atheist since I was nine years old. And my mom is really religious, so we have a strange relationship. But if my mother was right, what would be the reason that the gods could let anything bad happen in the world?”
Many unbelievers continue to argue if Jesus is the light of the world, why did He not stop pain and suffering? But if truth is spoken and we are honest with ourselves and with each other…..most of our own pain and suffering…. this ugly evil which exists in the world… comes from deep within us….buried within the soul of a fallen humanity….it is instinctual….it is innate…a compulsion to continually seek darkness in this current state of fallenness….it lurks and peers out of the evil which exists within the hearts of every man….We intuitively choose the darkness over the light…
“I am an atheist. I was born a Catholic, but after I had traveled to Northern Ireland with some Catholic friends, and we had a horrible experience with the English Protestant police, I lost all taste for formal religion.”
Jesus did not come to Earth the first time to bring justice….but rather to bear it…
Jesus did not come with a sword in Hand…but with nails driven through both Hands…
The Son of God entered into a fallen humanity…to eventually end a fallen humanity
The Son of God entered into human suffering…to eventually end human suffering….
If Christ had come with a sword…He would have destroyed all of us…
But when He returns that second time…there will be left remaining… those who are spared!
His own Suffering…His brutal Death… and His glorious Resurrection created a people in the world who will be spared!
“Always after a defeat and a respite, the shadow (evil) takes another shape and grows again.”
–J. R. R. Tolkien
…Have you lost hope in the growing darkness of a fallen humanity?
